Experience two great plays followed by a talkback with Marilyn Herbert

Offering 20% off select performances of Freud’s Last Session and The Jazz Singer

This spring, Toronto’s Harold Green Jewish Theatre Company (HGJTC) is bringing you two great shows — one a touching play about two fascinating historical figures, and the other a classic musical based on the 1925 Broadway play. We are offering 20% off tickets, only for the days that Bookclub-in-a-Box founder Marilyn Herbert will be hosting post-show talkbacks with the audience.

Freud’s Last Session

About the show: Legendary psychoanalyst Dr. Sigmund Freud and the young, rising scholar C.S. Lewis meet head-to-head in a fictitious battle of the mind. The play is set in Freud’s home on the brink of England entering the war in 1939. This deeply touching play is filled with humour and wit and explores the minds, hearts, and souls of two brilliant men addressing love, sex, and the greatest questions of all time: the existence of God, and the meaning of life.

Talkback day: Sunday, April 23, show at 2 p.m.
Location: Toronto Centre of the Arts’ Greenwin Theatre (5040 Yonge St.)
Talkback topic: Sigmund Freud & C.S. Lewis — A Chemistry of Religious Thinking

The Jazz Singer

About the show: The classic show business story of a son’s struggle between his passion for a Broadway career, and his father’s plans to have him follow in his footsteps as a cantor. This dynamic production features musical numbers by legendary composers and such classic songs as “Let Me Sing and I’m Happy,” “Mammy,” “Sonny Boy,” and “You Made Me Love You.” Based on Samson Raphaelson’s 1925 Broadway play and adapted specifically for our audience, this classic story is brought to life in a toe-tapping experience you will never forget.

Talkback day: Thursday, June 8, show at 8 p.m.
Location: Toronto Centre of the Arts’ Greenwin Theatre (5040 Yonge St.)
Talkback topic:  The Influence of Jewish Music on American Jazz
